A virtual private cloud (VPC) is a secure and isolated instance of a private cloud hosted on a public cloud infrastructure. Think of a public cloud as a crowded restaurant, and a virtual private cloud as a reserved table. Even though the restaurant is full of people, only those who have made a reservation can sit at a table marked "Reserved". Similarly, a public cloud has many different clients accessing computing resources, but a private cloud reserves some of those resources for a single client.
In a private cloud, the infrastructure is used by only one organization, and the equipment can be located both in a rented data center and on the territory of the company itself. Several companies can use the public cloud at the same time, and the data centers are usually located at the provider. Users of a private cloud, unlike a public cloud, do not share resources and can maintain strict security measures.
